I graduated with a BA(Hons) from Camberwell School of Art in 1989 and have lived in Lymington in Hampshire for over twenty years. I walk out most days in the New Forest and am very familiar with the wildlife and landscape. I take a sketchbook out with me when walking to get ideas for longer plein air sessions.  
I may complete a work solely outside or work up sketches and notes later in the studio for more involved projects. For me the only way to get the feel of a particular tree or viewpoint- the tones, colours, depth and light - is to have experienced it on the spot. Working outside is, however, not for the faint hearted and I may occasionally have to make way for angry looking bovines.
